Agency Veteran Launches Marketing Training Program

February 3, 2005 - A desire to provide entrepreneurs and small business owners affordable access to the same high-level, strategic marketing expertise that typically only large companies with large budgets can afford has led San Diego advertising agency veteran, Debbie LaChusa, to develop The 10stepmarketingT System. The system provides a simple, step-by-step approach that business owners can follow to create and implement a strategic marketing plan to grow their business.

"I have basically adapted the process I have been using for years to develop marketing and advertising plans for my ad agency clients into a 10-step, question-and-answer format that any business owner can follow," said LaChusa. 

LaChusa says the idea started four or five years ago when she began delivering marketing "how-to" presentations at conferences such as Health & Fitness Business, The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association, World Fitness IDEA, and the California Real Estate Inspectors Association.

 "The attendees were hungry for good, solid information they could use to market more effectively," said LaChusa. "Unfortunately, many marketing books and courses use too much technical "industry" language and tell business owners what to do, but don't tell or show them how," she added. This led LaChusa to write and self-publish two marketing workbooks which have sold copies worldwide. These workbooks were the basis for The 10stepmarketing System.                                        

The 10stepmarketing System walks business owners through a series of 10 steps, each comprised of 10 questions.  As the questions are answered, the business owner is actually building a marketing plan. LaChusa said the system also includes templates for creating a marketing plan, marketing budget and marketing activity calendar, along with lifetime access to the 10stepmarketing Online Marketing Resource Center which includes links to many services and resources business owners can use to save time and money on their marketing. 

"It was important for this system to be turn-key and provide everything a business owner needs to effectively market their business," said LaChusa.

LaChusa has worked for a number of San Diego advertising agencies since 1985, and currently works part-time with NYCA as an account director. She also has run her own marketing consultancy, DLC Marketing, Inc. (www.dlcmktg.com), for the past seven years and has managed marketing and advertising for a variety of businesses including The EastLake Company, First Fitness, Inc,. Freedom Racing Team and the EastLake Design District. She is the former vice president of marketing and public relations for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and is currently on the faculty of Wellcoaches Corporation where she teaches wellness coach trainees how to successfully market their new coaching practices.
